ABOUT MS. FLINCHUM
I grew up in a very small town in Central Illinois. I have a combined family with a total of eight children. I was pretty much in the middle of the birth order. I graduated from Illinois State University in Normal, IL in December of 1983 with a bachelor degree in Special Education. I started my teaching career in January of 1984.
In 1985, I married and moved to the Chicago suburbs. I had a very difficult time finding a teacher position, so I started working in a daycare center as a teacher and eventually moved up to become a daycare director. I stayed in that position until my children were in school. Then I worked in a group home for ten years. I started as a teacher there and moved up to be a Program Manager in a home with moms and babies. It was a fun job.
About seven years ago I returned to public school as a teacher aide in Champaign schools. I then decided I wanted to teach again, so here I am at Broadmeadow school and I love it! The staff here is so knowledgeable, friendly, and dedicated to our students.
